Welcome to the website of the Rowan Amateur Radio Society. Our club is located in Salisbury NC, the county seat and largest city within Rowan County. We are centrally located between the mountains and the coast of North Carolina in an area known as the Piedmont. The Rowan Amateur Radio Society was founded in 1937, and we have been an ARRL affiliated club since 1968! Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM.       Details: The Rowan County NC ARES® Training Net is held each Wednesday evening at 8:30pm on the N4UH 2 meter repeater which can be found at 145.410 MHz, with a -Negative Offset and a PL Tone of 136.5Hz (Alt Freq.145.410 Simplex).

The Annual Firecracker Hamfest, sponsored by The Rowan Amateur Radio Society will begin Rain or Shine TOMORROW Saturday July 12, 2014 at 8:00 AM at the Salisbury Civic Center in Downtown Salisbury NC. This is a family friendly event so bring the whole family, tickets are only $5 at the door and children, under age 12 and accompanied by an adult get in free. On Saturday May 31, 2014 at 0900 the Rowan Amateur Radio Society will hold it’s monthly Foxhunt (Also known as Radio Direction Finding or Transmitter Hunting), starting at the Rowan County Fairgrounds. In the event the Fairgrounds are in use, we will move to the parking lot at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

This will not be a competitive event like most of our Foxhunts, instead this will be a training event primarily for the US Marine Corps., but we encourage anyone interested to please join us. If you are new to Foxhunting this would be the perfect opportunity to learn what it is all about.

This is no charge or fees to join in on the fun and the weather looks like it might just cooperate.
