The North Carolina QSO Party for 2012 is this weekend starting at 12:00 Noon on Sunday the 26th of February and lasts until 10:00 PM Sunday evening. This event is organized by the Forsyth Amateur Radio Club of Winston-Salem, see their website linked belwo for more information.


The 146.730 MHz FM Amateur Radio Repeater on Young Mountain is once again operational. Plagued with problems in recent years, which included having the old tower and antenna knocked down by a construction crew. The repeater now has a brand new tower, antenna, and feed line. The repeater now ID’s with the call sign “KU4PT” which belongs to Ralph Mowery, one of the local Amateur Radio Operators that helps maintain the equipment. This repeater which is located in north-western Rowan County North Carolina has been on the air since the 1970’s and is known locally as the “73 machine”. The input frequency is 146.130 MHz with a PL Tone of 94.8 Hz. Output power is 100 watts and it is operational 24/7.
