What are QSL cards? QSL Cards are used to verify that a contact was made between two “Hams” which is slang for Amateur Radio Operators. They are also used by other radio services such as VOA, BBC, RCI, and issued to “SWLers” which is short for Short-Wave Listeners. They are similar in shape and design to standard Postal Cards. Below are a few examples.

Member Herb Goodman – KF4TVI offers this QSL card in memory of his “Elmer” the late Grady Withers-K4BEC SK. “During Hurricane Hugo, Grady and I kept in constant contact via the telephone because I had yet to get my Ham License. I was of course an avid Shortwave Listener and heard many of his QSO’s, but the ones during Hugo were some of the most exciting. As an encouragement to get my license and be a participant instead of just a listener, Grady gave me this QSL card to remember this historical event.
