How to use this web site.

Visitors

Thank you for expressing an interest in our club. The primary function of this website is to share information about our club, our wonderful members, and all the activities we participate in throughout the year. We encourage our visitors to not only read over, but also to comment on our posts; and to make that easier, we have chosen to use the Disqus Comment System to manage our visitors comments. We chose Disqus because it offers it’s registered users the ability to associate their Disqus Account with other accounts they may already be using like Yahoo, Twitter, or Facebook; and that means less passwords for you to remember too. Once set up, you can sign-in using any of those accounts and comment on posts on our website, or any other website using the Disqus Comment System without having to create another account.

Club Officers

Rowan Amateur Radio Society Officers should contact the webmaster for login information using the form on the Contact Page. Once you are logged into the “Dashboard” you will see the features you have permissions to use in the menu on the left, including your profile page. It is recommend that you first go to your “Profile” page and add a nickname, it is required, and you can change it later if you want! It is recommend that you use your call sign, but that is your choice.

Once you have accessed your profile page you will see that right under your Nickname Field is a drop down menu with the screen name options you have available, select which ever one you like (first name, last name, combination, or nickname). This is what will be displayed when you post your messages. While your on that page you might also want to change your password to one that is easier to remember, but be sure the password is STRONG as indicated by the password strength meter, and PLEASE DON’T use the same password as you use on all your online accounts, that is not safe.

It would also be nice if you would fill in your first and last name, they won’t be visible to others unless you select them as your display name, and they have to be filled in in order to post messages. Once you are done making changes to your profile page, be sure to click SAVE CHANGES button at the bottom. If you are not familiar with Word Press and would like to know how to post messages (i.e. Posts), the following link will get you started: Writing Posts.

To Everybody

Since we encourage young minds to visit our web site and participate in our discussions, all Posts and Comments will be moderated. Currently, we are only allowing Rowan ARS Officers and our site administrators to create new original Posts; visitors may comment on those posts using the Disqus Comment System. If you would like a message posted and are not a Club Officer or Administrator, please use the form on the Contact Page to submit your request. After reviewing your submission a decision will be made and your post will either be approved and posted by a site administrator or rejected and an explanation will be supplied by return email indicating the reason for the unfavorable decision. If your message is approved for publishing, credit will be given to you at the top of the post, so please include your call sign, name or screen name that you would like to appear.
